Quick Seattle Trip

Welcome to Travel + Explore & Play with Sallee Jay, where I am your host 👋

I’m fresh off a family trip to Seattle for a wedding. Wow is all that I can say‼️‼️‼️ The wedding was phenomenal!!! During my downtime I was able to explore a little bit of the city and wanted to talk about some of the things that I saw during my brief visit to Seattle.

My first stop, Pike Place Market. a must see if you are in Seattle. Pike Place Fish Market is a main attraction of the market. It is an open air fish market, and people come from all over the world to watch fishmongers throwing fish purchased by customers before, being wrapped up to be taken home. The origins of the market date back to August of 1907, however, voters did not approve the 17-acre historic district until November 2, 1971. Pikes Place market is a special community within the heart of Seattle downtown area. It’s is a vibrant community filled with farmers, craftspeople, small businesses that’s also provides services for low income individuals.

The next morning, I work up early in search of eyelashes for my auntie and decided to take some time to site see a little more. Our accommodations were located in the Pioneer Square neighborhood, known as the birthplace of Seattle. Being that we were also very close to the King St Amtrak Station ( 🚉 and Lumen Field home of the Seattle Seahawks, there were bikes and scooters available for rental on every corner. I downloaded the Lime app, selected a bike and started my journey. I was able to see the Seattle Art Museum, Pier 57 and the Seattle Great Wheel before heading back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding.

Watch as I adventure in Downtown Seattle.

I learned a few more things about Seattle that I would like to share with you all. For all of my shoppers, you will be pleased to know that the Nordstrom flagship store is located Downtown, satisfy your shopping needs at Pacific Place and Westlake Center. Ballard Avenue NW, is the place to be if you are looking for the hottest trends and fashion forward pieces from indies shops and boutiques.

The Space Needle, perhaps the most popular Seattle icon, allows for you to enjoy a ride up 605 feet in the air. The Space Needle was built in 1962 for the World’s Fair and offers remarkable views of city and surrounding areas. On clear days (which are not as rare as you may think) you can ponder the Olympic and Cascade mountains, including Mount Rainier, and many of Seattle’s surrounding islands.

Also try to begin one of your days surrounded by delicate hues at the Chihuly Garden and Glass. Featuring eight galleries and a garden, this exhibit highlights the work of legendary glass blower Dale Chihuly.

Lastly, be sure to grab a coffee at the first Starbucks!

Seattle is a great city to explore! Until the next trip ✈️💋
